Hi!
I'm Uday Rana (he/him), and I’d love to work with you!
(My name is pronounced oo-THEY RAA-na).
I’m a writer, journalist, editor, fact-cheker and content producer based in Ottawa, Canada. I’ve spent nearly a decade doing what I love - telling stories. I’ve told stories across two different continents and two different countries. I’ve worked in print, digital, television and radio.

My work has appeared in prestigious publications like the BBC, the Ottawa Citizen and Asia Democracy Network.
I speak, read and write four languages – English, Hindi, Urdu and Punjabi. This gives me access to more sources and communities than the average Canadian reporter.
I’ve written on everything from conflict in South Asia, businesses in the Greater Toronto Area, immigrants across Canada, human rights, climate change, healthcare, education, racial justice, politics, labour policy, LGTBQ issues, a puppet festival in a small Ontario town to a lot of things in between. I have worked with top Canadian publications, such as the Globe and Mail and the CBC. My work at the Globe and Mail, which focused on the experiences of racialized immigrants in and around Toronto, was nominated for a National Newspaper Award and a Digital Publishing Award.
While my expertise is in long form writing and copy editing, I’ve also worked in business news with the Globe’s ‘Report on Business’, investigative journalism with the Globe and Mail, and broadcast news with the CBC.
I can write, edit, produce, and narrate. Now, how can I help you?
